Helen Edwards is one of the most trusted and knowledgeable real estate experts in Texas. A native Texan and long-time Austin resident, she delivers a rare combination of technical and personal skills to clients faced with what can be a stressful transaction — the sale of their most valuable asset.

Expect the highest degree of honesty and integrity from Helen with an unsurpassed knowledge of the metro real estate market. She also brings calm and confidence to the process.

For 20 years, Helen led Coldwell Banker United, REALTORS — one of the most successful and widely recognized residential real estate franchises in the country — in a variety of executive positions. From 2004 until December 2017, Helen served as the company president.

Currently, she is a member of the Austin Board of REALTORS, the Williamson County Association of REALTORS and has held the prestigious CRP designation (Certified Relocation Professional from the national Employee Relocation Council since 1996).Previously, Helen served on the boards of directors for ABoR and Williamson County of ABoR, representing more than 12,000 licensed agents. With that extensive leadership experience, Helen is well versed about trends, hot topics and technology as they impact the profession today.

Her high standards of excellence were honored in 2001 when she was named REALTOR of the Year in Williamson County.

Against the backdrop of professional superlatives, is Helen’s love for Central Texas — her home base since growing up in Brenham — often called the “bluebonnet capital of Texas” and considered the state’s birthplace. That quintessential Lone Star upbringing involved hard work on the family’s ranch and that work ethic remains a foundation of her business style.

After high school, Helen attended Texas A&M University and later became involved in politics, campaigning for Richard Smith, a former mayor of Bryan, Texas and a state legislator.

A savvy businessman, Richard also founded Coldwell Banker United, REALTORS and quickly realized Helen’s talents within his growing real estate firm. Richard dispatched the spunky young business woman to coordinate and ultimately lead the company’s operation in Central Texas. Helen exhibited a wide range of talents and skills as a manager and sales expert. Her stellar track record was rewarded with a promotion to company president, oversee offices across Texas and in North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.

One of her earliest co-workers—Vanessa Bivens, today a Coldwell Banker agent in Colorado —vividly remembers the early days when Helen showed up at the fledgling Austin office. Helen’s can-do attitude was immediately apparent.

“She’d always do whatever was required. There was nothing that was ever below her,” Vanessa said.

One specific memory comes to mind. A couple with young children traveled to Austin to look at homes during a job transfer. Helen by then was Coldwell Banker United’s relocation director and had learned that the couple was overwhelmed during their stay.

“She went to their hotel and helped bathe their children and get the kids to bed,” Vanessa said. “Helen just has this way of showing up when people are at their most vulnerable moments.”

Helen understands. During her early career running the Austin office of Coldwell Banker United, REALTORS she was diagnosed with a rare form of salivary cancer. It was particularly challenging as the single parent of three young boys. She recovered with heroic resolve and gratitude that the experience was behind her.

A few years later Helen remarried and a fourth son arrived. The joy of her growing family overshadowed by a second bout with cancer, this time breast cancer. Helen believes these life-and-death battles have greatly enhanced her personal and professional life, adding deep compassion to her skill set and motivating a passion for community service.

It’s no wonder that friends and colleagues alike sing her praises.

Steve Barnes, a Houston real estate consultant and a former executive with Coldwell Banker United, considers Helen one of his dearest friends and a role model.
Her “empathy quotient,” he said, may only be rivaled by her technical acumen and follow through. Add to that an easygoing attitude that puts clients at ease on the way to a successful outcome.

“Helen could have written the book, ‘Customers For Life,’” Steve said.

With that endorsement, Helen looks forward to representing you in the sale of your Austin area home — weaving together knowledge and networks locally and across the country.

“It’s true that the real estate markets are all local, but it’s also true that they are interconnected across the country and internationally,” Helen said. “A big part of my value is combining my business experience in global corporate relocation activity with the knowledge of individual markets across the country. My 25-plus years in this business have translated into hundreds of connections and resources that will help you sell your home.”

" Thank you, Helen! Can you believe it’s been over 2 years since I first contacted you about renting versus selling my house? You always gave me options based on my questions and needs, and never focused on just the sale or the profit. Even when I had to delay selling due to personal issues, you had such a caring response and even kept me up to date on my neighborhood and the market. I’m glad I took a leap of faith and put my trust in your advice throughout the selling process, from asking price to the final sale you cared more about doing the right thing, the ethical way, so much more than just making the sale. When I was ready to sell, during the summer in a market downturn, you were able to help me get an offer within days of the listing for the asking price. You were able to move mountains to make that happen just before the interest rates went up. In addition, you were able to ensure that we progressed at the right pace, texting me with updates and next steps. Thank you!"

"There are so many positive things that I can say about our experience of selling a home with Helen. Of course she was positive and professional throughout the process (which was daunting since we were moving across the country and had never sold a house) and she handled so many things that were above and beyond.... but the most important thing that she told us at the first appointment was "let me take care of selling the house....you take care of each other and your sweet family". That was life changing in a very stressful process. She took care of the house AND she took care of us. We highly recommend her."
