Southeast Central Austin and Riverside

Trees Trees and more Trees: The canopy of trees on the south side of Lady Bird Lake creates a wonderland of lush that captivates residents every day.

goodnightGoodnight, formerly known as Goodnight Ranch, has been in the works for years, and now it's well underway with an assortment of stylish homes on Austin's far southeast fringe near Onion Creek Metropolitan Park. That expanse of about 555 acres is currently receiving numerous recreational improvements that will add to the appeal of the neighborhood.

parkEaston Park is one of the largest master-planned communities to debut recently in Southeast Austin. It's being developed by Brookfield Residential, which was one of the first big companies to take a chance on Southeast Austin. Longtime Austin developers have always preferred the hills west of Austin, but newcomers, such as Canadian headquartered Brookfield, wanted to expand the city's horizons — and did so in a big way. Easton Park stretches across 1,500 acres near McKinney Falls State Park, a major recreational asset within the city's parameters. Some 13 miles of trails will encircle Easton Park and its projected 6,500 new homes.

SOUTHEAST CENTRAL AUSTIN (including Riverside Corridor)

The East Riverside Drive corridor is, perhaps, one of the enigmatic neighborhoods in all of Austin. It’s five minutes from downtown and unfolds along the southeastern shores of Lady Bird Lake. Open space abounds and the Boardwalk Trail at Lady Bird Lake debuted in 2014 to rave reviews. The corridor provides the most direct access to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport — an easy 10 to 15 minute drive most times.

For many years East Riverside Drive has been home to college students, apartment dwellers and working class families. Today, however, the area is in the throes of dramatic change, especially with the recent opening of Oracle Corp.’s $300 million campus near East Riverside Drive and Pleasant Valley Road, bringing an estimated 2,000 new jobs to the once sleepy area. Those workers need housing nearby and several developers have big plans for mixed-use projects.

Meanwhile, CalAtlantic and MileStone Communities continue to deliver new single family homes and townhomes in enclaves right off Riverside Drive. Expect more creative housing options to follow in this ultra-convenient location.
